My First Official Post on my Really Old Blog

I took the following from Scott's post on his family website so everyone would know what he's up to. I also wanted to provide the link for his youtube Art Creel video. (Since I'm typing and also copying stuff that Scott's written, I'll put the stuff I'm typing in bold so you know what I wrote and what I copied.)

From Scott:
I apologize I've been a little out of the loop for the past while. A couple of weeks ago I started working as an independent consultant helping another new SearchFit website owner sharpen up their look and product images. Searchfit is the shopping cart software I decided to go with for building ArtCreel. The company I'm working for is a SF Bay area company called organicbeautynow.com. They do organic/natural/toxin free foo-foos, lotions, potions and makeup, soaps, essential oils and other what-nots.

Because the shopping cart software is quite technical and powerful, they felt like they needed someone to be their web-techie to handle changes and administration of the site, and to help out with the look of things. They were looking for someone on the searchfit forum familiar with how it functions to fill this role. Its been pretty much as full time as I want it to be but flexible too so I still have time for other pursuits. It should keep me busy for a while...

Thanks to everyone for praying for us to find something that would work for us and pay decently.

From Lara:
Since I'm finally updating everyone, I may as well copy another post from Scott.

MOLDY CHUM - Oct 29, 2009

Now a title like that ought to get your attention! Yesterday at 12:00am, my press release for ArtCreel.com went online at PRWeb.com:

http://www.prweb.com/releases/2009/10/prweb3113204.htm

They're the leading online site if you want to do a press release. The hits on my site yesterday were mostly from the PRWeb link to my site, which was great. I thought you all might enjoy reading the release there.

Anyway, about the Moldy Chum - if you Google "fly fishing blog", MoldyChum.com is the 4th most popular ff blog, listed on the first page. They picked up my release and put me center stage on their front page today! Yesterday, I had 40 visitors. Today, moldychum has sent me over 100 so far through their link! Thanks guys! I was excited this morning to wake up and check my stats and find that I had 22 visitors by 5:30 am. I'm not intending to give everyone a play by play but this was really exciting exposure, and thought you'd all like to know that there is actually a website called moldychum.com

One more thing I should point those of you who are still with me to. (What a horrible sentence.) Scott wrote an article for an online magazine entitled "Fish Can't Read". The article is entitled "Fish Art and the Four Yorkshiremen" and you can read it if you go to fishcantread.com, click on table of contents and then click on the article title. I think he did a great job.

Last summer I started a blog for our family. By started, I mean I reserved a name. I've never made a post, so there really isn't a blog. But now as I type this REALLY LONG e-mail it seems like a good idea to correspond regularly so you don't have to write a book like this each time you want to talk. : ) By the way, the kids and I are doing well. Yesterday (actually today) was my 2 year anniversary at Aspen Properties. I'm grateful for my job, but still look forward to the day I can leave it. I also tutor 2 high school and 1 middle school student in math each week and LOVE that. I love working with the youth at something I enjoy and feel good at.

Jared is participating in Math Counts next month at MSU. It's a math competition. He loves to read, loves math, loves art and played a perfect game of WII bowling (that's 12 strikes in a row!) the other day. Emma plays the saxophone and is so glad to be in middle school. She is a great student and loves hanging out with her friends and participating in Young Women's. She already completed her first Young Women value project by participating in A Christmas Story (with the countless hours connected with that). Ashley overcame the terribly scary virus that attacked her body for the first 2 weeks of the year and is doing great. She loves to sing and participates in her school choir. She thinks her 3rd grade teacher is the best ever (although at first she wanted the other teacher). She loves Wednesday afternoons when her mom comes and leads a math group consisting of Ashley and 4 boys. Jack, our boxer-healer forever-puppy (in behavior anyway) survived being hit by a car last fall with scars on his hind leg, but no limp. He's perfectly behaved when it comes to a sit/stay for his food, he's completely outdoor trained for potty purposes, and is really quiet. Other than that, he has some areas to be desired in regards to his behavior. He's well-loved and loves us as well. Nylabones and Kongs seem to be the only toys that stand up to his "play". He's been good for the family.

What started as a paragraph has ended up replacing the last 2 years of Christmas letters that I didn't write or send. I think I'll make this my official first post on my blog and send the address instead of this long-winded update.

There you have it, I've started a blog.
